Fountain Care and Instructions

Each fountain includes an adjustable water flow pump which has a one (1) year manufacturer warranty and will be replaced by Creations should the need arise. Included with your fountain are complete instructions for the pump care and maintenance, set-up instructions for the fountain and warranty for the pump.

To prevent hard water build up within the pump and fountain interior it is suggested distilled water is used or add a small amount of chorine to tap water. The fountain may be placed outside, however due to dust, the pump should be checked and cleaned as required (usually monthly).

DO NOT drop the fountain as it will probably be damaged. Should this unlikely event occur you may ship the fountain (prepaid) to Creations for repair at a small cost.

If you purchased a fountain with a hand carved oil lamp basin, which includes the wick and holder, Ultra Pure lamp oil is recommended. Available at most hardware stores, gift shops or craft stores.

DO NOT allow water to freeze in the fountain as damage to the fountain and pump will result.

Flower Vase Instructions

Vases have a kenzan (pick holder) for placement of arrangements and may be used for either wet or dry arrangements. The top piece is removable for easy maintenance and cleaning.

Oil Lamp Instructions

Oil Lamps include irregular hand shaped top pieces to accent the reflection of the flame, wick and wick holder. Ultra Pure lamp oil is recommended and is available at most hardware stores, gift ships or craft stores. Maintain the height of the wick approximately 1/8 inch above the top of the glass holder for best results.

Clock Instructions

Wall Clock includes quartz movement, hanger, on/off switch and AA battery. Accurate within 1 minute per year and movement is guaranteed by manufacture for 5 years.

Bowl Pebbles Pump Tiers
Usually any type of container/bowl will be just fine to use for a fountain --- marbles/clear glass etc.. maybe used instead of pebbles or combined--- tiers as shown or shells drilled/bamboo etc... for the top.

So.... here we go !!! It's really easy !!!

Place the pump with the tubing attached in the bottom of the empty bowl.
(Pumps are usually adjustable so... try the middle setting first)

Add your pebbles/marbles/shells to the bowl around the pump and just covering it.

Slide the largest tier down the tubing so it rests on the pebbles etc...
(you may add more pebbles to raise the tier somewhat)

Add each additional tier by sliding them down the tubing resting on the largest tier.

When all the tiers have been added... cut the tubing even with the top tier or perhaps just a little below.
Razor blades will work fine as will scissors... just be careful.

Add additional pebbles/shells/marbles etc around and on the tiers.

Fill container with water.

OK ! Plug in the PUMP !!!

That's It !!

Now, use your talents and imagination for variation of your fountain.......

Place tiny pebbles between the tiers for some space, this creates different water flow effects.
Try adjusting the pump higher or lower... higher... more water and sound ... lower..less sound and water.
Move the pebbles to different locations on the tiers.
Try adding more pebbles to raise the base/bottom tier or remove some to lower it.
Add your favorite miniatures.... turtles, fish, birds or whatever you like.

Email us a picture !!! We will add them to our "photo gallery" which would give others ideas !!

PUMPS:
Maintain the proper water level for the pump to operate, if you hear a "sucking sound" the water level probably is too low and the pump is drawing air. Water will evaporate indoors, so check frequently and in most cases the evaporation is good because it adds moisture to the air.
Pump Noise may be caused by several factors.... these are the most common... debris hampering the impeller, fountain placed on a hollow surface which will amplify the slight whir that most pumps make, pump may be touching a pump cover or pieces of the filler used in the fountain, also try adjusting the water flow by turning the pump adjustment up or down.
Your pump should have come with warranty and care instructions. It is important to take the pump apart and clean it especially the impeller and the water intake slots or holes depending upon the conditions your fountain is displayed in. Fountains placed outside probably will have to be cleaned more often than those placed inside. If the water appears dirty or clouded .... replace the water and clean the pump.
Many types of pumps are available for fountains so select the one best suited for your needs. A two (2) prong electrical plug is usually only for INDOOR use, while a three (3) prong may be used outdoors as well as indoors. Some types come with an on/off switch in the cord which avoids unplugging all the time. You may purchase an electrical plug with a switch (similar to a light switch) then rather than unplugging the cord just flip the switch. Another option is a remote control available at most hardware stores.

 WATER:
Distilled water is usually recommended as it will reduce the build up of calcium deposits etc...
There are many products available to add to water.... bleach (couple of drops), fountain products such as Protec (Fountec), Fountain Block... follow instructions and check to be certain what ever you use will not be harmful to pets or plants.

 CLEANING:
Scrubbing with soap and water usually will work just fine. For stubborn build-ups such as calcium deposits - Lime-Away, vinegar, cream of tartar etc... will help. Follow product instructions to avoid problems !!

 BOWLS/CONTAINERS:
Really .... just about any type YOU like !!! Most pumps will operate in 1-2 inches of water so be sure the container is at least that deep. Garden shops, craft stores, thrift shops, yard sales pottery stores , you name it and you can find something !! Just be certain it will hold water and not leak. There are many "sealers" available for bowls ... some types will only waterproof for a while then they break down... glazed ceramic bowls, plastic containers etc... are best.

 HIDING THE PUMP:
Various type of slate/rocks... feather rock which has been carved out with room for the pump... Slate/Quartz tiers with hole drilled to fit the pump tubing... more in a few days.

 PEBBLES/STONES or Fillers:
Most craft stores or landscape yards carry a selection of pebbles or stones that will work just fine. Other "fillers" such as sea glass or even marbles might catch your fancy. Choose the colors and sizes that best fit your taste.

 GLUES:
Usage of glues for purposes of securing decorations to your fountains, securing rocks or slates together etc... should be accomplished with waterproof glues or resins. A two part marine resin will work but it's difficult to work with unless you have the experience. Most people involved with fountains use a product named E6000 which may be available in hardware stores, craft shops or stores that deal in paints and resin. Many fountain web sites now sell E6000 so you might check there also.
